Google [launched Guided Vision in Gemini Live on Oct. 1](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/guided-vision-gemini-live/?ref=thevoiceofenablingtechnology.pmbofficial.com), a feature that uses a phone's camera to describe surroundings and guide blind and low vision users through everyday tasks.

**How it works:** Users point the camera and talk with Gemini, which responds by voice. Guided Vision is available on Android 9 and newer and can be [opened from the TalkBack menu or an accessibility shortcut](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/guided-vision-gemini-live/?ref=thevoiceofenablingtechnology.pmbofficial.com). Google [previewed the feature in its September Android update](https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/platforms/android/android-drop-september-2026/?ref=thevoiceofenablingtechnology.pmbofficial.com).

**Why it matters:** It puts conversational visual help into the phone's built-in screen reader, so users do not need a separate app to read a label, find an item or check a setting.

**Who it affects:** Android users who are blind or have low vision, plus trainers and families who support them.

**Important limit:** Google says [Guided Vision is not a mobility aid](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/guided-vision-gemini-live/?ref=thevoiceofenablingtechnology.pmbofficial.com) and should not replace a cane, guide dog or orientation and mobility training.
