Senate Finance Democrats ask for input on a home care guarantee
Published
AgingPolicySenate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Oct. 16 released a broad request for information on overhauling long-term care, including an "affordable home care guarantee."
What's in it: The request asks for feedback in three areas: making home care affordable and accessible, especially for older adults and people with disabilities; improving nursing home quality; and strengthening the long-term care workforce.
Why it matters: Requests like this often become the starting text for legislation. It arrives as Congress returns Nov. 9 for a lame-duck session and as Medicaid home care waiting lists keep growing.
Who it affects: Older adults, people with disabilities and their families, direct support professionals and home care workers, and providers of home and community-based services.
How to weigh in: Comments are due Dec. 18, 2026, to homecare@finance.senate.gov.
