Windows 11 update brings Screen Tint, math reading in Narrator and braille at setup
Published
TechnologyDisabilityMicrosoft's latest Windows 11 update adds several built-in accessibility tools, the company said Oct. 15.
What's new:
- Screen Tint adjusts screen color for comfort and readability.
- Magnifier can now zoom each display separately.
- Narrator reads math in a structured way and works better in Outlook and Excel.
- Braille displays that use the HID standard work with Narrator from the very first setup screen.
- Advanced haptics add touch feedback.
Why it matters: Braille users have long needed sighted help to get a new PC set up. Support from the first screen means more independence from minute one. Structured math reading helps blind students and workers in STEM.
Who it affects: Windows users who are blind, have low vision or are sensitive to screen color, plus schools and employers that deploy Windows devices.
